What a week looks like

On Sunday, the long reading: the whole text of the week. On the days that follow, the work upon it — the repetition, a master, Scripture, an exercise, the going out into the world. On Saturday, the examen.

The day is a schedule, never a gatekeeper: nothing locks, nothing expires, and whoever missed a day does not find a list of arrears on returning. If today has no piece, the week opens at the last day that has already passed.

It begins on a Sunday you choose

When you come in, the app does not simply open: it asks which Sunday you begin and at what hour you read. You choose, and you leave here with two appointments in your own calendar — the Sunday reading and the Saturday examen —, with a reminder.

What you write is yours

The internal forum — the journal, the examen, the notes — is encrypted on your own device, with a password only you hold and that this server never sees. The author does not read what you write: not as a promise, but because he has no way to. When you create the password, the app gives you a recovery phrase — letters to write on paper and keep outside the app: it is the one thing that opens the forum on the day the password slips away from you. And lock the forum when you finish writing; as long as the tab is open, so is it. If one day both are lost, the password and the phrase, what you wrote is still here — kept and unreadable, to you and to everyone.

The two intelligences, called by their name

There are two artificial intelligences here, and both present themselves as what they are. One quotes what has already been written and falls silent when it has no source; the other answers with no language model at all, only with what this app has published. Neither one tells you what you are living, judges your progress, or speaks in God's name.

The Atrium — what is not charged for, and never will be

It is the name of the free part of this app. The atrium was the entrance courtyard of the basilica, where those who had not yet come in would stand: here it is what stays open with or without a subscription, today and afterwards.
